YAK Car Pic of the Day

If you, your parents, your grandparents, or a neighbor didn’t own at least one bow-tie wagon, you must be from another continent. Here’s one of the cheaper ones: a 1968 Chevy Biscayne which, being at the bottom of the totem pole, didn’t have much to brag about in the way of features. So the brochure writers decided on these: “Beautiful new Chevrolet grille styling; Deep padded armrests on all doors that shield newly styled door handles; and a counter-balanced tailgate that yawns open on a bandshell-big rear compartment.” Wow. That’s big. This blue (or is it green?) one, with some sort of muscly steel rims, was spotted recently in a West Seneca driveway. You can see the ’68 Chevy wagon brochure here.

You know…I’m thinking that the first manufacturere to bring backa full sized wagon might hit the market. Look at all the burbanites with pick-up trucks that have not even a scratch in the bed because they don’t ever use the pick-up as a truck. Maybe they’d find a full size wagon more practical for the needs they do have. But it would have to look oh so macho.
