YAK Car Pic of the Day

So it turns out that Norman Bates’ mother’s name was Norma. In the new A&E series Bates Motel, which is a kind of prequel to the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock movie Psycho (although it is confusingly set in the present), we learn how she bought the old Seafairer Motel with the proceeds from her late husband’s life insurance policy (you don’t want to know). She had enough left over to also buy this nifty Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL, different models of which were produced from 1965-72. This one’s either a ’71 or ’72 as those were the only years the 4.5 liter engine was offered. (The 4.5 badge is on the trunk in another photo.)
