YAK Car Pic of the Day

YAK’s TV Car Week extravaganza continues with this 1997 Buick Park Avenue. Yep, it’s the barge piloted by Parks and Recreation‘s own Ron Swanson (played by Nick Offerman) who is the Parks Director for the fictional Indiana town of Pawnee. Ron is a Libertarian, anti-government government employee with a love of meat and a hatred of vegetables. After one particularly trying day, he went into a diner and, being dissatisfied when his steak was presented to him, changed his order, and then clarified it for the guy behind the counter: “Wait! You may have thought you heard me say I wanted a lot of bacon and eggs, but what I said was: Give me all the bacon and eggs you have. Do you understand?” (see it here). And that’s Ron. There was no surprise in seeing him behind the wheel of the Park Avenue (shown above heading into the departmental picnic with his grill and supplies), except for the fact that he was once quoted as saying he’s had the same car since 1991. That’s some trick. Shame on the PandR continuity department for that one.

Ron’s every man’s hero. He goes to steak houses and orders the ‘turf and turf’ in lieu of the traditional ‘surf and turf.’

“Barge”? Park it next to a ’91 Buick Roadmaster station wagon and the Park Avenue is now a rowboat. 🙂
