YAK Car Pic of the Day

.

.

“I just want to say one word to you. Just one word.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Are you listening?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Plastics.”

Fans of the 1967 movie The Graduate will recognize that exchange in which the character played by Dustin Hoffman is given some career advice at an outdoor party. Car fans (who else would be reading this?) will remember Hoffman driving around town in a red 1966 Alfa Romeo Spider 1600. Well, just yesterday I came across a 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 in the parking lot of a Tonawanda repair garage. At first I thought the rims looked a little hokey, but later learned that they’re original Alfa rims. This car looks to be in pretty good shape (except for that loose bit seen dangling from underneath the car), especially compared to some of the stuff I found people trying to sell on eBay. I should look the owner up and ask for a ride — especially with the weather we’re having this week.
