YAK Car Pic of the Day – WYSL MYSL Update

Some of you may remember last year’s You Auto Know column in Artvoice about the WYSL MYSL, a.k.a. the 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS427 owned since new by legendary Buffalo DJ Shane. The trials and tribulations of restoring this hunk of American metal go back two decades or so. And I’m glad to say, that after umpteen years of sitting in a repair garage in the City of Buffalo, the car has finally been reunited with the man, who a couple of weeks back trailered it down to his home in Richmond, Virginia. Yeah, there are still a few mechanical bits to be sorted out, but the end is within Shane’s grasp. And here are the (hopefully) final words on the subject from Black 427, speaking through the Cosmic Cowboy himself:
“I am the WYSL MYSL. My Jock, Shane, saw me near destroyed by thugs. He never let me die. It took him 20 years. I guess he’s still a cowboy who won’t run from a fight. Good thing. I’d be in a junkyard and my big heart (engine) would be beating inside some dinky little thing like a Chevette. Thank you, Jock. For never giving up and walking away from me. Anybody want a ride?”
