YAK Car Pic of the Day

The next few Fridays or so we’ll take a look at police cars on the silver screen. Like this 1949 Ford which we saw here at home last night in the 1950 movie The Asphalt Jungle. A while back Turner Classic Movies was featuring heist movies, and The Jungle is certainly up there with the best of them.

And here’s some ’49 Ford trivia: the car that became the ’49 Mercury was supposed to be the ’49 Ford, but the powers-that-be, upon seeing the designs, changed course and had a whole new design drawn up for the Ford. The rest, as they say, is history. The first, totally-new post-war Ford was a huge hit then, and still is now with collectors.
