YAK Car Pic of the Day

A car pic of a truck. From back in the day when a full-sized pickup truck actually fit into a single car garage; wasn’t big enough to scare small children; and didn’t cost the same as a small house. This 1969 Chevy C10 pickup was spotted recently on this trailer in a Sanborn parking lot, on its way, I’d guess, to join someone’s collection. Back in 1969, most pickup trucks were still work trucks, although they were nowhere near as plain as they were ten or fifteen years prior. And not many folks bought one instead of a car — they were just too impractical. As they mostly are now, I might add.

What durable and properly scaled machines they were in the day. I’ve never understood why pickups ballooned to the bulbous and gargantuan proportions they did, particularly when very little of their bulk and carrying capacity are ever utilized.
