YAK Car Pic of the Day

I was watching a Ch. 4 news story on a Tonawanda police chase from early yesterday morning, and thinking what a shame it was that one of the City of Tonawanda’s new Ford Taurus-based Interceptor police cruisers was damaged. So of course I went back in the archives and dug up this 1960 Ford police car brochure (back then they were police cars, not police cruisers). You gotta love that speed-check machine on the roof — it was probably very high-tech at the time. I’m also trying to figure out if that’s a forward-facing rear-view mirror mounted on the trunk lid, and if it is, do you suppose that’s how the officer behind the wheel checked your speed as measured by the high-tech roof contraption? Wow. And check out this feature: “Chair-high, 23° Posture-Perfect, foam-padded front seats.” No mention of how comfy the back seat was.
