YAK Car Pic of the Day

Came across this 1968 Ford LTD in a doctor’s office parking lot a while back in the Town of Niagara. From the looks of it, I’d bet that the owner bought it new — okay, I saw a guy getting into it as I again passed it going the other way a few minutes after taking these photos, and he looked to be of the correct vintage. The LTD was what started the trend of ritzy features found in everyday Fords, Chevys, and Plymouths. They may just have laid the groundwork for the eventual demise of Oldsmobile, Mercury, maybe Pontiac, and — yes, even Plymouth. The lines between low-priced family cars and medium-priced almost-luxury cars had been blurred, and there was no turning back.
