YAK Car Pic of the Day

Here’s one of those cars I’ve seen in several locations over the past few years: first, with a For Sale sign in the Village of Lewiston; then in a driveway on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls; and now it can be seen (For Sale again — or maybe still) in front of a repair shop on Military Road not far from the Fashion Outlets. It’s a 1969 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight holiday coupe, almost as big as a Cadillac (shorter by a half-inch) and better looking, I’d say. Available also as a four-door sedan, four-door hardtop, and a convertible, Olds called the Ninety-Eight a “masterwork of classic elegance.” But someone, somewhere, at Olds was pinching pennies — the Ninety-Eight was equipped with four ash trays… but only three lighters. What the heck!
(and the answer to yesterday’s YAK Pic from the Machias scrapyard is a 1968 Ford Fairlane 500)
