YAK Car Pic of the Day

Well, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Oh sorry, I shouldn’t shout the morning after New Year’s Eve. I’m sure a few of you were out late last night. Maybe some of you even hired a limousine to ferry you around (and avoid the dreaded DWI) — good for you! Was your ride anything like this 1959 Imperial Le Baron four-door sedan, in — as the brochure tells us — Formal Black. Of course it’s formal! The Le Baron wasn’t technically a limousine, but it was certainly long enough to stretch out in. (The Italian coach-builder Ghia did assemble seven stretched Le Baron limos with a wheelbase of 149.5 inches — which was was almost two-feet longer than this sedan.) Say what you will about Imperial styling from the late 1950s, they certainly weren’t difficult to find in the parking lot. Especially in Persian Pink. See the ’59 Imperial line-up here.
