YAK Car Pic of the Day

Our previous “ugly car pic” was an atrociously-styled Olds Toronado. Americans don’t own the rights to terrible-looking cars, though. Take for instance, this 1960 Frontenac. If you’re scratching your head over that one, would it help if I said “Canadian Ford Falcon?” Officially neither a Ford, Mercury, or Meteor, the Frontenac was a line unto itself, and was sold at Mercury/Meteor dealers north of the border before the Mercury Comet came to market for model year 1961; then it was dropped. Now, the Falcon itself wasn’t a terribly unattractive car, but someone at Ford Canada apparently decided to buy up a bunch of grilles from the J.C. Whitney catalog and bolt them into the Falcon’s grille cavity — even though they didn’t fit. C’est une crappy styling job! Click here for a link to the wonderfully-illustrated Frontenac brochure.
