YAK Car Pic of the Day


It’s Monday, so we once again find ourselves at the lower end of the car market — this time it’s the 1958 Chevrolet Yeoman two-door, six-passenger station wagon. Cheap? Yeah, you could say so. Just $2,413 for the six-cylinder model. The problem for the brochure copywriters was how to make cheap sound good. And once again, they came through in spades: “Swab the deck! The Yeoman’s not afraid of soapy water. Tough vinyl upholstery, rubber floor mats and linoleum platform make this station wagon interior completely washable — with water and a sponge!”

Wow, linoleum! Buying a new Yeoman just got you “moved on up to the East Side!”
