YAK Car Pic of the Day

You know, back in the day I thought I was pretty hot stuff driving my 1978 VW Scirocco, which cost me the princely sum of $6,500. The Scirocco was VW’s sporty version of the Rabbit, and to this day it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. In 1988 another small German sports car came along — the VW Corrado, which some mistakenly think replaced the Scirocco. The Scirocco stayed in production until 1992 (the Corrado only until 1995). U.S. importation ended with the 1994 models. When the Corrado was in the planning stages, it was to be a new Porsche model, but somewhere down the line, plans changed. This yellow example is currently resting in a Grand Island driveway. You can view the 1993 brochure here.
