Tonight, October 17, beginning at 7pm, at The Foundry, located at 298 Northampton Street in Buffalo, the Bread & Puppet Theater will be in town for a one night special performance. The presentation is free and open to all.
Bread & Puppet Theater was born out of the anti-Vietnam War demonstrations in the 1960’s and has grown into a theater company that performs nationwide, drawing crowds of tens of thousands to view their special variety of political music, art, puppetry, and pageantry. Founded by German born artist-dancer Peter Schumann in 1963, the Bread & Puppet Theater continues to perform and deliver workshops in New England and around the globe, with Schumann continuing as director, artist, and breadbaker—with a vengeance!
Bread & Puppet Theatre stops in Buffalo as part of their tour to upstate New York. Linda Elbow, tour manager, says, “Buffalo is a city we have been hoping to visit for some time, we are eager to perform, and immerse the community in our work.”
