YAK Car Pic of the Day

For those of you who thought they only came as minivans — surprise! Here’s a circa 1974-78 Plymouth Voyager camper conversion (above). Just as with the minivans which debuted in 1984, the original Plymouth Voyager was a thinly-disguised Dodge, whose full-sized passenger vans were called Sportsmans, while the Dodge minivans were called Caravans. This example, seen on a North Tonawanda side street, is identifiable as an earlier version by the front-end styling, which underwent a remake for MY 1979. The full-sized Dodge vans continued after the introduction of the popular minivans, but Plymouth’s big people carrier was retired after MY 1983.
