Wheels in the Grass

’49 Chrysler Windsor club coupe, Wainfleet, Ontario

This one is really in the grass, and far off the road. In Wainfleet, Ontario sits what appears to be a 1949 Chrysler Windsor club coupe. The Canadian Chryslers had a name badge on the hood which wasn’t on U.S. cars. This one was most likely built in Chrysler’s Windsor, Ontario plant. The U.S. version sold for $2,308 and what with the exchange rates back then you can bet this Canadian car had a higher price tag. The Windsors (and cheaper Royals) rode on 125.5 inch wheelbases, while the pricier Saratoga, New Yorker, and Imperial had another half-foot between the axles. And the four-door sedans of all series far outsold the two-doors, so this here car is a pretty uncommon find.
