YAK Car Pic of the Day

Very odd to see a 1977-78 Fiat 128 on the road these days, as most of them have rusted into oblivion. When I say 1977-78, it’s a guess based on the bumpers, round headlights, and taillight design. Oh, and that color. It’s funny I can’t pin down the exact year, because I actually spoke with the driver — we were in Niagara Falls, N.Y. — but he told me the car is driven daily by a woman in Toronto and he was just doing some repairs. Kind of scary when the mechanic doesn’t know what year the car is that he’s working on, eh? And just days later I passed another one in Lockport, which we’ll save for another day. The 128 was in production in one country or another from 1969-1985, and in 1970 it was voted European Car-of-the-Year.
