Wheels in the Grass

Driving through Wainfleet, Ontario a couple of Saturdays ago, poking through the weeds was this 1964 Ford Thunderbird Landau coupe (you can tell Landaus by the “S” bar on the C-pillar). This was the first in a three-year styling cycle for the ‘Bird, where its famous sequential rear turn signals and Swing-Away steering column made their debut. The Landau was in the middle price-wise and sales-wise for 1964, between the top-selling hardtop and the convertible, all powered by a 390 CID V-8. The Landau checked in at $4,589 and 22,715 were produced.
