Joining an ever-growing number of media outlets, Inside Higher Ed, a web-based daily based in Washington, DC that covers college and university issues ran this story on Friday—adding to the notoriety of the new Shale Resources and Society Institute (SRSI) at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Since it was unceremoniously rolled out to the public by Artvoice on April 5, the new institute has gathered a breathtaking portfolio of negative press in only its first three months of existence.
Meanwhile, an online petition by a group called UB CLEAR is making four demands of University at Buffalo Council Chairman Jeremy M. Jacobs concerning SRSI. The petition has collected nearly 100 signatures so far. UB professors, students, alumni, and others concerned about the university’s damaged reputation are invited to sign by clicking here.
