YAK Car Pic of the Day

From the Lost Nameplate Department comes his 1954 Mercury Custom two-door sedan. Mercurys were pretty-much always nothing more than gussied-up Fords, and everyone (well, almost everyone) knew it, but at least back then they looked a lot different from their less-expensive cousins. In the later years? Not so much. This green two-toned Merc was seen in the parking lot of last month’s car show in Lockport. The three rivet/bolt-heads on the right side of the trunklid would indicate a missing nameplate which announced that it’s equipped with the Merc-O-Matic Drive transmission — a big enough deal back then to want to impress your neighbors with the fact.
