YAK Car Pic of the Day

At any gathering of car fans, there’s bound to be some interesting machinery around the periphery. Like at last week’s 2012 Hemmings Motor News Great Race, which passed through downtown Buffalo on Thursday evening:

In front of the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum was this 1919 Pierce-Arrow bus. They were advertised as being more comfortable than a limousine, and sold for $4,600

Here’s a 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III convertible, parked off to the side in the museum lot with other “For Sale” cars. Probably the excess of Fifties’ Excess.

Last, but not least, was this 1951 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe two-door sedan, parked about a block away across from Chef’s Restaurant. The medallion on the trunklid above the nameplate proudly announces that this Chevy is equipped with a Power Glide transmission.

Great shot capturing the sweeping rear lines of that cherry Fleetline, Jim.  I wasn’t around in ’51 but if I was and saw one of these running down the road, I’d say “I’ve seen the future and it’s good!”
