Wheels in the Grass

’65 Pontiac Tempest GTO, Wheatfield, N.Y.

Well, congratulations to the owner/seller of this 1965 Pontiac GTO convertible, which is sitting in a Wheatfield front yard. I think this is one of the worst-looking cars we’ve featured yet — at least among those for sale. For just two grand this hulk could be yours! I know, ’65 GTOs are valuable; and I’m sure there are many useful part still here. But it’s hard to imagine, to a cheapskate like me, paying two grand for it. I bet it will be gone soon, though. The GTO was, I believe, in 1965 still officially a model of the Tempest Lemans series, and wouldn’t become its own series until MY 1970. This ’65 droptop, one of 11,311 produced, carried a list price of  $3,057. Which is, I guess, another reason I can’t imagine it’s still worth $2,000 as it sits.

yer tellin’ me it looked like this?
