This past fall, Puck Stop traveled to Europe to provide Sabres coverage of their games in Mannheim, Berlin and Helsinki to Artvoice readers back home. The journey across Germany, and a hop over to Finland, was part of a larger project titled The Ultimate Sports Road Trip. This is an ongoing sports travel adventure where we have the unique bragging rights of having attended a home game of each of the 122 teams in the four major sports in their current and active venues. The journey began in 1998, and really has no conclusion, as teams relocated (i.e. Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg) or moved to new venues (i.e. New York Yankees to new Yankee Stadium), we go back to check it out.
Well, the project has received yet another burst of national attention. It is the lead story on ESPN.com, and the brand new section which replaced Page 2, simply titled “Playbook”, features a sports travel story titled “Superfans take live sports to the extreme.
We proudly represent Artvoice – our 9th season of Buffalo Bisons coverage with “Play Ball”, completing seven seasons covering the Buffalo Sabres with “Puck Stop”, and traveling across the continent and beyond to share the joy and wonder of sports travel.
