YAK Car Pic of the Day

'54 Chevy 3100, Athens, TX

A while back we ran a photo of a truck similar to this 1954 Chevy 3100 pickup which was (and is still) parked in a Niagara Falls used car lot. This one, which looks to have a more solid body on it, was found on my January trip to Texas. The 3100 was the half-ton model, and offered a varied list of optional equipment, such as a left-hand push-button door lock, and a governor. Governor? That’s what it says in the brochure (which you can view here). No mention as to whether or not the legislature was also available for a price.

    I bet that governor kept the hired help from being tempted to push  the ‘Blue Flame 6’ to excessive RPM levels. Now the legislature, we all know how ineffective they are…
