YAK Car Pic of the Day

'66 Plymouth Belvedere I, Gainesville, N.Y.

Never know where I might find myself, like the day I passed through Gainesville, and spotted this 1966 Plymouth Belvedere I four-door. It had a For Sale sign in the window: $1500 O.B.O. When new the starting price was $2,315. This one was a bit higher, as it had the optional V-8. I imagine that, plus those classy K-Mart wheel covers, should make for a quick sale!

Wowee!!! Where was I? Man!!! A Belvedere!!! That is just way too cool!!! What a Grandpamobile. (Hold up there Coppola, you’re 62 & going to retire, this might be right up your alley.) Nice tail lights.

Actually, if a fellow could get the rust in the rear quarter panels contained and tossed those shabby wheel covers – really out of place and they’ll de-laminate anyway – it would be the ideal ‘Grandpa’ daily driver. And, if it’s a V-8, it’s likely the Mopar 318 and that’s a solid running mill!

The 318 cuin V8 was a good mill. I really did not consider that.
