And your point is? A real democrat would post a picture of a bus. 🙂
Stupid picture to post.
It’s a picture of a plane at Buffalo airport. It was taken during a snowstorm – something we didn’t really have any of this year. Why, exactly, is it a “stupid picture to post”?
Yes. What Alan said.
Because it suggests that this is the condition in Buffalo today as if Buffalo is an unrelenting snow storm even while others are experiencing some warm March days. “Ooo look at Buffalo – everyone had a soft winter but up there it is still snowing” It would have been appropriate when it was take or at least accompanied by a caption saying what you just said. Otherwise it is just poor journalism.
Now Alan has to post identifying info as to when each photo was taken on his series of posts in which he simply posts what he thinks are good photos that were taken from around the region? Come on, now.
I think the plane is a lovely shade of blue. I could gaze for hours into a pair of eyes that color. And I like how it matches the truck.
No Jaquandor – Alan does not have to do anything. I am just stating my impression of his editorial intent based on the image.
Remember when Dave Steele whined when I posted summertime pictures here on a really cold day? And this one – it’s sepia, but really color film and digital cameras are totes available in Buffalo! Furrealz!
And for the record, they’re not “journalism” or based on “editorial intent”. Every few weeks I take an inordinate amount of time selecting photographs to post here from the Flickr group. Sometimes, when I don’t have enough photographs to use as far out as I’d like, I go hunting and invite the pictures to be added to the group that gives me permission to do this. That’s what happened here – I saw photographs from the air, and of the airport, and I’m an aviation fan and enjoyed them, and asked them to be added to the group for posting here.
The vast majority of the outdoor pictures I post here on Photo of the Day actually happen to be from spring/summer/fall because Buffalo is a depressing grey wasteland during most winters. However, I love a good snowstorm. Thanks!
For someone who complains about others all the time you sure have a thin skin. For the record I never saw those other installments. Oh, by the way all or your posts are listed under the headline News & Commentary from the Artvoice Editorial staff”
“Thin skin” is what people hurl at me at the conclusion of this sequence of events:
1. Commenter says something pretty stupid or nonsensical;
2. Commenter’s stupidity is pointed out to them – not just by me, but also by others;
3. Commenter persists in writing nonsense, in spite of the fact that it’s been identified as such;
4. I finally have to instruct the commenter on precisely how stupid the sentiment (hardly an opinion) is/was.
Me rebutting your point isn’t evidence of my thin-skinnedness. It’s evidence that your point was pretty stupid, and you’ve doubled down on it.
I have been posting a photo of the day to this website quite literally from the first day I began writing here – November 21st. That’s about 4 months, every single day, that I’ve posted a photo from Flickr. The only requirement is that the photograph depict something in WNY. This photograph depicts a Southwest Airlines 737 at the gate at KBUF on a snowy day. Nothing is implied regarding the weather, nor should anyone infer any hidden meaning about, e.g., the crushing ennui of the Great Lakes winter, or of man’s triumph of commercial flight. It’s just a picture of an airplane in Buffalo. Nothing more, nothing less. I liked it. I posted it.
Maybe you’re just angry because they didn’t build the terminal to the curb.

(eyeroll) oh brudda
Yep – thin skin – hence the overreaction to a short comment.
I’ll be sure to run all future photos of the day, which are posted every day and you’ve never seen before, by you first.
