YAK Car Pic of the Day

Lest you think the U.S. had the market cornered on, shall we say, distasteful-looking automotive machinery, here’s the 1978 Mazda 121 L. Not available in our market, the 121 L nevertheless had the requisite opera windows, half-vinyl top, and kitchen appliance color choice which would have made it a best-seller in places like Reno and Coral Gables. According to this Norwegian brochure, the 121 L had “sporty eleganse,” which I think translates to “we’ll put it up against your Cordobas any day!”

I love the color. they must have mixed together all the left over paint dregs at the end of the days production and sprayed it on the last car to roll of the line. The girl is rather pretty, though.
