YAK Car Pic of the Day

At first glance I assumed this was a 1951 Chevy sedan delivery, seen parked in front of a shop in Killeen, TX during a recent trip. But, sedan deliveries didn’t have that opening for a rear quarter window. An ambulance, I thought. Maybe, but the ambulances that had that shape of rear side window also had faired-in emergency lights on the leading edge of the roof, just above the windshield. So either the lights, and any evidence of them, were removed, or this was a short-wheelbase hearse — the longer ones had four-doors. This one is also sporting the common Texas paint job, acquired after spending the last 60 years in the sun, I guess. It must still run, because they took it inside every night (unless they were pushing it!).
