YAK Car Pic of the Day

'73 Chevelle Malibu, Town of Porter, N.Y.

From some angles, this 1973 Chevy Chevelle Malibu doesn’t look too bad. This was the first year for the ferderally-mandated five-mph bumpers front and rear, and manufacturers had an obvious problem with the styling aspect of these battering rams. Just take a look at the front photo of the SS wagon. Yikes!

a bit of an underbite

Remember that old Tony Curtis/Krik Douglas movie THE VIKINGS? Substitute the SS wagon for that gigantic tree the Norsemen used as a battering ram to breach the castle’s drawbridge. Instead of towing it, the could have drove it. (Might have been hard to find gas..er..petrol in 10th century England however.)

’73 saw the introduction of a swivel bucket seat option too!
