Perhaps you keep up on things such as this; then again, perhaps you don’t. So here’s the scoop: Subaru is coming out with a new rear-wheel-drive coupe, the BRZ (jointly developed with Toyota, which will be releasing it here as the Scion FR-S). That’s right, no all-wheel-drive for this Subaru. (I guess that’ll be a monumental change for their advertising campaign, which nows touts how all Subarus are all-wheel-drive.) A couple of weird coupes pressed their faces to the glass back in the 1980s and 1990s: the XT (’85-’91) and the SVX (’92-’97). Neither were big sellers. Eyeball the photos and decide if their looks had anything to do with that.
