YAK Car Pic of the Day

The Mercedes-Benz 450 SL was produced from model years 1973-80. They were convertibles which came with soft, folding tops or, as with this one, a removable hard top. Over the years there were also 280, 300, 350, 380, 420, and 500 SL/SLC versions (SLCs were hardtop coupes, not convertibles), the number pertaining to the approximate engine size (the 500 had a 4973 cc engine). Now, before you get all excited and start saying things like “I’d love this car!!” you should know that I photographed it last fall in a Youngstown repair shop parking lot; a few weeks ago I saw this same car (pretty recognizable with that Wisconsin plate) in a Lewiston repair shop parking lot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
