YAK Car Pic of the Day

(From the recent trip to Texas files)

'55 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe, Killeen, TX

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that this 1955 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe was once… green. There are still smidgeons of paint visible here and there on this otherwise not-in-too-bad-of-shape land yacht. This is what 57 years sitting in the hot sun does to a paint job. I’m guessing it spent its life here from the dealer badge on the trunklid — Ira Young – Temple, Texas. That’s just down the road a piece from where we were when I spotted this beauty in Killeen, Texas sitting behind a transmission shop.

THEY DON’T BUILD LIKE THAT AYMORE. WHAT WILL A “K” CAR LOOK LIKE AFTER 57 YEARS?

That car and I are the same age. It still has smidgeons of paint, and I still have smidgeons of hair. And we’re both “otherwise not-in-too-bad-of-shape.” One of my uncles had this car, and kept it through the 1960s. You could fit about a dozen pre-teen kids in the back seat, if you stacked them properly. Can’t imagine trying to parralel part that boat.

Or “parallel park” if you prefer…yikes.
