YAK Car Pic of the Day

Thames 300E panel van, Porter, N.Y.

I can’t believe someone hasn’t hauled this thing out of the weeds and made some kind of a hot rod out of it — it’s a British Thames 300E panel van and it’s firmly ensconced in a Town of Porter backyard. This particular body style was introduced in 1954, based on Ford’s Anglia/Prefect, and continued in production until the newer 1961 307E replaced it. The 307E was based on the new Anglia, one which you may be familiar with as the flying blue car in the Harry Potter movies.

Harry who? Harry Potter. Did he play bass for that Irish band Thin Lizzie?

I loved the fact that the Ford Anglia they used in the movies looks just like the one in my Matchbox collection, right down to the color!
