YAK Car Pic of the Day

This was pretty rare when it was new, so to find one these days just sitting around in a used car lot is something else. It’s a 1965 Pontiac 2+2, a full-sized high-performance car from back in the days when Pontiac was famous for its factory hot rods. A $244 option package for the Catalina hardtop coupe and convertible, the 2+2 came with a 421-cid engine rated at 338 hp (in 1965 numbers). Optional were 356 and 376 hp versions, as well as a four-speed manual transmission. Dual exhausts and reverberating rear speakers were standard; power steering was optional (imagine trying to park this thing without power steering!). Photographed in Franklinville.
