Wheels in the Grass

'71 Cadillac Sixty Special, Lewiston, N.Y.

It’s HUGE Buffalo, HUGE! A 1971 Cadillac Sixty Special Fleetwood Brougham, sitting in a town of Lewiston driveway. With a wheelbase of 133 inches, you’d better have taken this one home before buying it to make sure it fit in the garage. And it wasn’t even the longest Cadillac — the Seventy-Five had a wheelbase of 151.5 inches (and there was a commercial chassis, used for “professional” vehicles which was another four inches long). Luckily they didn’t charge by the yard. The ’71 Sixty Special listed for $7,763 and Cadillac sold 15,200 of them. Laid end-to-end they’d reach from Detroit to the Fiji Islands.

Betcha I could pull eight skiers with that boat! I could become accustomed to that ride also I do think. Wondering if my honey would be willing to wax all that for me tho. Oh baby…

Sweet, I had one back in the day, you should mention it came with a 500+ cubic inch engine. It used to wink at the gas stations! Thank you for the pictures.

THE FIRST SHIP THAT I SERVED ON WHEN I WAS IN THE NAVY WAS SMALLER THAN THAT CADDY! YOU COULD LAND PLANES ON IT. THE “NAV” COULD USE THAT CADDY TO RUN UP THE GULF OF HORMUZ INTO THE GULF. THAT CADDY IS SOME KIND OF “BAD”!
