If you don’t know what the Buffalo Cash Mob is, please click here for the backstory or here for our recent story in the Wall Street Journal.

You nominated over 30 local businesses, including The Broadway Market, Budweys, GiGi’s, and Paula’s Donuts.

You cast over 1000 votes in the finals.

And by a margin of two votes, you picked a winner.

The next Buffalo Cash Mob will be held this Friday, January 6th between the hours of 4-6PM at Chow Chocolat at 715 Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo.

At Chow Chocolat, we create artisan handmade chocolates using only the finest natural ingredients available. As the only true chocolatier in Buffalo our fine quality chocolate without the use of artificial ingredients is what makes us the best in Buffalo. Our organic free trade coffee and espresso products are served in recycled biodegradable cups, thus reducing environmental impact. We serve freshly baked pastries and baked goods daily.

A full menu of chocolate treats, gourmet desserts and drinks can be found on their website.

Artvoice TV’s Judy Sperry visited Chow Chocolat last year and submitted this video.

Chow Chocolat has a 98% approval rating on UrbanSpoon and was favorably reviewed by the well-regarded food, drink and restaurant review outlet, BuffaloChow.com.

Color us impressed.

It felt like the start of something more fun, a coffee and candy shop with personality. There was live music in the place when we visited that Saturday night, art from a very talented local artist hanging on the wall, and small clusters of customers – families, other performers waiting for the open mic, and us – sitting at the place’s few tables. The drink menu was a mix of coffees, hot chocolates, and tea; we sipped on the latter, strolled around to look at the art, and made another pass through the chocolates, getting extra pieces of gingerbread and a bag of the restaurant’s bagged, chocolate-covered espresso beans, found on the wall with small batches of other prepackaged candies.

Chow has been open at their Elmwood Avenue location for nearly a year and they’re excited to meet some new customers and welcome back some familiar faces tomorrow. Please let them know when you stop in that you are part of the Buffalo Cash Mob (simply as a means for them to tally the impact of the effort) and pick up some fine, handmade chocolates or desserts and ruin your New Year’s Resolution in style!

Our next Buffalo Cash Mob nomination and voting process will begin in two weeks and we encourage those who supported our runners-up this week, West Side Stories and Record Theatre to support them again.

Since this was the first time I voted, I will make the trek to Chow and dutifully make my purchase. I’ll also take the credit for the one vote that made the difference……

Alas, always food, always drink. when will we visit a place that feeds the soul?
The last thing I need is chocolate or a pastry. Although the words “French Roast” do sound tempting. See if I can make it from the Falls on time.

  • Folks, don’t forget that you can also make an evening of it, thanks to Allentown First Fridays gallery walk held the same evening (and the first Friday of every month). You can see which galleries in & around Allentown will be open on the website:
    http://www.firstfridaysallentown.com/events/firstfriday/

CEPA Gallery downtown also has an architecture in education exhibit opening that evening.

Locally made, locally exhibited art will feed your soul, Pauldub!
