Steam Donkeys Celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Afternoon

Looking to get a jump on 2012, revelers, politicos, urban-planning majors, live music fans, and members of the local honky-tonk community are praising a plan hatched by the Sportsmen’s Tavern to start celebrating New Year’s Eve (Saturday, 12/31) nine hours earlier than the rest of the people living on Eastern Standard Time.
The landmark Black Rock live music club (326 Amherst Street, Buffalo) has booked a one-two honky tonk knockout punch* for New Year’s Eve, beginning with two sets from the Steam Donkeys (pictured) from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Stone Country wraps up the night starting at 9:30pm.
Lots of great, friendly folks, tasty food, and fine local music in the most-transformed venue in town for 2011. (Note the sight-lines from the new balcony.) Roll in the New Year at the honkiest-tonkiest beer joint in town.
