WBFO’s Mark Vogelzang Leaving for Maine

Called in to shepherd the sale of UB’s public radio station to WNED two years ago, WBFO station manager Mark Vogelzang has announced he’s leaving at the end of December to accept a position as CEO & President of Maine’s public broadcasting network, MPBN.

You can read all about it in the Maine media. Click here, or here, or here. Or even the Wall Street Journal.

Can’t find it in any Buffalo media yet. But then, we’ve seen how Vogelzang likes to withhold information from the local press.

The sale application for WBFO was finally sent to the FCC for approval on November 22, and could take from 6 weeks to 3 months to finalize.

I imagine once the dust clears there’ll be no need for two station managers anyway. Let’s hope whoever takes over the WBFO/WNED stations makes better use of what’s available to them, and knocks off the simulcasting of shows on both frequencies, and the repeating of shows during the course of the day. Fresh Air is only “fresh” the first time around!
