The Participation Trophy

The Buffalo News’ Colin Dabkowski weighs in on the ongoing debate over whether we should criticize good people’s good efforts when they fail to live up to expectations.

This ongoing twitter argument raises THE question: When will WNY outgrow provincial thinking and stop settling for the participation trophy?
But also: this argument is also evidence of a new era of smart people actually giving a crap about WNY. Which is (relatively) new and good.

I couldn’t agree with Colin more-time to stop accepting mediocrity in WNY. Time to own our city, make it great again, and stop hoping that the world will like/accept us. That Buffalove phenom gets really tedious and tired.

Grow some balls, Buffalo, and claim your place at the table again.

Elect solid, progressive politicians to support the Buffalo people…who are, in fact, the ones re-creating this great city. Out with Brown and other tools.

    Let’s get some real leaders.
