’67 Sunbeam Imp

Here’s one from the “What Was I Thinking?” Dept. — a 1967 Sunbeam Imp. Yes, my first car, bought at the innocent age of 18. Rear-engined, 12-inch wheels — 12-inch wheels!!  It really had it all. I forget what I (over)paid for it, but I do remember keeping it a total of about six weeks, three of which it spent in the shop waiting for various parts. Parts which the salesman assured me would be easy to come by should the need ever arise. It went back to the dealer I bought it from (no one else really wanted it, and it was already there in the shop — again!), where I traded it in for a sweet ’67 Plymouth Barracuda coupe. Shoulda bought that one in the first place!

IT LOOKS LIKE A SHOPPING CART. I HAD A BUDDY IN COLLEGE (1969) WHO HAD A PEUGOT 404. I WAS AFRAID TO GET IN IT.
