YAK Car Pic of the Day

VW Vanagon Westfalia camper, Niagara Falls USA

So, when it came time for VW to design the third generation of its venerable bus, they cut no corners. No, literally, I mean they left all of the corners on! You’ve gotta admit, this 1980-ish Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia is pretty square. But then again, in the ’80s it was hip to be square. And VW campers were always pretty hip. This one is in Niagara Falls, just around the corner from yesterday’s Ford Country Squire.

OH MY GOD!!!! I HAD ONE OF THESE. I WAS STATIONED IN ITALY ON SHORE DUTY BETWEEN 1991 TO 1996 (MY LAST TOUR IN THE NAVY). WE DROVE ALL OVER THE CONTINENT IN IT. 2 MONTHS BEFORE I WAS TO RETURN TO THE U.S. TO RETIRE, IT WAS STOLEN RIGHT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I HAD PLANNED ON BRINGING IT BACK & GIVING IT TO MY SON WHEN HE GRADUATED FROM H.S. BOY, WAS HE PISSED! “THE G-D D–N DA-OS STOLE MY F—–G VAN!”
