Yak Car Pic of the Day

Miss Hathaway’s ’62 Sport Fury

The 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury came along later in the model year and isn’t shown in earlier brochures. Here’s Miss Hathaway and Mr. Drysdale pulling into the Clampett’s driveway in her own Sport Fury during an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies. The Drysdales drove (or, were driven in) Imperials while Miss Jane got the lowly (but still stylin‘) Plymouth. Musician Richard Carpenter has one of these rare Sport Furys in his huge old Mopar collection. See more of his cars here.

I love YAK even though I’ve never given much of a damn about cars. Keep it up.

Let’s here it for Miss Jane Hathaway, and for the late Nancy Culp, who played her: “Late in life Kulp indicated to author Boze Hadley in a 1989 interview that she was lesbian. ‘As long as you reproduce my reply word for word, and the question, you may use it,’ she said. ‘I’d appreciate it if you’d let me phrase the question. There is more than one way. Here’s how I would ask it: “Do you think that opposites attract?” My own reply would be that I’m the other sort – I find that birds of a feather flock together. That answers your question.'”
