The New York State legislature appears ready to hike tuition for New York State residents by $300/year, or 30% over the next five years. Today’s undergrad tuition of $4,970 would rise to $6,470/year. SUNY centers like UB would also be permitted to charge an additional $75 student fee for the privilege of attending a flagship campus.
And that concludes today’s lesson on how quality, affordable, public education—when packaged as an “economic engine”— is a goldmine to some.
