On Monday evening, April 18, the Common Council’s Finance Committee will hold a special meeting to discuss different ways the city might restore funding for arts organizations zeroed out of this year’s county budget by Erie County Executive Chris Collins.
Last week the Council passed a resolution written by Delaware District Councilman Mike LoCurto asking the Brown administration to dip into the city’s reserves to provide money for Buffalo-based arts organizations whose existence is threatened by the Collins cuts. North District Councilman Joe Golombek has asked the Brown administration to consider allowing city taxpayers to donate to a special fund for arts organizations on their tax bills.
These and other means of supporting the arts will be discussed on Monday. The meeting begins at 6pm in Common Council Chambers, on the 13th floor of City Hall.
