In the depths of winter, nothing comforts like a steaming bowl of soup. So, given the regional predilection for overdoing all things related to food and drink, perhaps the first annual Buffalo Soup-Fest was an inevitability. If so, thank goodness for sure things.

It takes place this Sunday (January 30) at the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga (2040 Walden Avenue). More than 30 vendors will ladle out soup and other comestibles, among them the Original Soup Man (of Seinfeld fame), Brodo, Merge, Eddie Ryan’s, La Dolce Vita, Isabella’s, the Washington Market, and Farmers & Artisans. There will be contests for best entries in a number of categories, and a portion of the proceeds benefits Hunter’s Hope.

The event runs 11am-8pm. Soup is good food.
