The Old Car Dealer Dept.

Back in 1973/74 when this ad ran in the Yellow Pages, Bobcor Performance Corp., located at 5363 Main St. in Williamsville, was selling new Fiats, Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, and Peugeots. That’s quite a mix. And to supplement what were probably rather low sales numbers, they also advertised themselves as a service dealer for all imported and sports cars (the year before, they also mentioned American cars in their service blurb). The Fiat line replaced Maserati in the Bobcor showroom in 1973. I’d imagine the markup on a new Fiat wasn’t quite up to that of a Maserati — but if you’re not selling many, what’s the difference?
Today? At 5363 Main St. you’ll find Village Import Auto Sales and Service. Not only are they still servicing imported cars there, but the Alfa Romeo and Fiat signage is still in place. Ironic, as the two nameplates should reappear in the U.S. within the next year. Wouldn’t it be something if Village Import was once again a new car dealer for the two Italian brands?
