The Old Car Dealer Dept.

Head south on Rt. 16 out of the village of East Aurora, and eventually you’ll pass 455 Olean Rd., which in 1975 was the home of Jacobs Chevrolet-Triumph. How’s that for strange bedfellows? Looking over old photos and brochures, trying to decide which ones to add to this post was not easy. In 1975 Chevrolet had something for just about everybody: two different Monza lines (hatchbacks and formal coupes); the compact Vega; Nova; Chevelle; Monte Carlo; full-sized Bel Airs, Impalas, and Caprices; and of course, the Corvette. Imagine being a salesperson and having to know everything about each line! Throw in the Triumphs, and I’ll bet their heads were spinning. Luckily (or not, depending on your outlook) the Triumphs wouldn’t be around much longer. Scan down the page and check out that plaid interior from the wedge-shaped TR7. Ah, the ’70s!
Today 455 Olean Rd. is home to Kubala’s Carpets Plus.
