The sign over the door says “Rakwood Building.” Once home to Bilsco Auto Service, Inc., the Rakwood sits at 2301 Main St. in Buffalo, now home to a Kung Fu studio and a TV sales and repair shop. Back in 1973, when this ad ran in the Yellow Pages, Bilsco was selling Fiats, Jaguars, Land Rovers, and the British Leyland line. The Jaguar E-Type, still thought by many to be the most beautiful production car ever made, now had a big V-12 engine stuffed under the bonnet, and — horrors! — a back seat, suitable, as Jaguar put it, for two children. Hopefully two children who got along well, because they were in pretty close quarters back there!
