The Old Car Dealer Dept.

Back in 1968, when this ad ran in the Yellow Pages, the building at 3700 Sheridan Drive in Amherst was home to Pieri Motors Inc., purveyors of the Chrysler imports Sunbeam and Simca. You’ll notice that parenthetically Pieri dooms itself with the simple phrase “British and French Imports.” Back in the late 1960s this was not necessarily a good thing. Soon, the importation of compact British (like the Sunbeam) and French (Simca) cars would cease, and hardly anyone in America would notice. And I must sheepishly admit that my own first car was a used 1967 Sumbeam Imp, very much like the one in the photo below. My father nicknamed it the Mixmaster. I think I kept it all of six weeks, half of which were spent in various repair shops. Ah, the good old days!
Today the building houses a Carpet Factory Outlet store.
